What is The Endocannabinoid System? (ECS)
The Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system is a communication mechanism geared to maintaining homeostasis driven by our own internally produced cannabinoids and cannabinoid receptors. The ECS is arguably the most important system for creating and maintaining human health. Endocannabinoids and their corresponding receptors are found extensively throughout the human body. They are mainly concentrated in the brain, organs, glands, connective tissues and immune cells.
The body naturally produces cannabinoids but several factors such as age or “dis-ease” can affect this process. Chronic stress, over time, depletes the body’s natural cannabinoids making us more susceptible to disease. Additionally, as we get older, we are more likely to get sick because our endocannabinoid signaling system is weaker and its tone is depleted.
Introducing cannabinoids by supplementing with CBD oil can stimulate the natural production of cannabinoids.
Your body and your ECS is unique. Finding your correct serving size can be achieved through patience and a bit of trial and error. If one full serving size (1 mL) is 25 milligrams, the general recommendation is to start with 3 to 6 milligrams 1-2 times daily and adjust the dosage and frequency accordingly. For instance, you may need 12 mg for sleep, 24 mg for pain and just 3 mg for stress or general health maintenance. Experiment with dosage and frequency to determine what works best for you!
One 750 mg bottle of CBD oil contains a total of 750 mg. (30mL / 1 oz bottle)
Each single drop of a 750 mg bottle delivers approximately .75 mg of CBD.
4 drops would = 3 mg
16 drops would = 12 mg
32 drops would = 24 mg

I enjoy using CBD with other herbal products. For instance, when I am in pain, I reach for CBD + Turmeric Vitality Tincture. Before I go to bed, each night I take about 12mg (16 drops) of CBD + Dream Faerie Tincture and I also employ my Lavender Pillow Mist for a deeper, restful slumber!

When having our CBD formulated, we chose MCT oil as the base oil because it is odorless, flavorless and has a long shelf life. While some brands claim that a hemp seed oil base is superior, this just isn’t true. Hempseed oil, while containing health benefits, has a short shelf life and it has a “green” flavor and odor which some people may not enjoy. The carrier oil, whether it is hempseed, MCT oil (fractionated coconut oil), grapeseed oil, etc.– is just not that important.
There are many carrier oils being used in today’s CBD market. CBD extract is concentrated, so we need a carrier oil to provide an easy delivery method! The CBD extract is blended with a carrier oil to produce a fluid, easy to take CBD oil. We purposefully chose MCT oil, made from coconut oil, as our carrier (or base) oil. Your CBD will have a long shelf life, even after opening, without refrigeration and has a pleasant, mild flavor that anyone in the family is sure to enjoy!
More about MCT oil = medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) and sometimes referred to as MCFA (medium-chain fatty acids). MCT oil is made from coconut oil, but it goes through a refining process to make it fluid even at cooler temperatures. Coconut oil lovers know that coconut oil becomes solid in cool weather and liquid in warm or hot weather! MCT oil remains a liquid at any temp. which makes it a beautiful choice as a carrier in your CBD oil!
Medium-chain fatty acids (MCTs) are capable of helping you:
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Reduce stored body fat — since they also raise your metabolic function
- Have more energy
- Think more clearly
- Experience better digestion
- Improve your mood
- Fight bacterial infection and viruses
- Absorb fat-soluble nutrients from various foods and supplements
For all these reasons plus it has a long shelf life, no taste or odor, you may now see why we chose MCT oil as our carrier oil for CBD!
